An audiovisual project documenting self-sustainability processes and deep ecology in Argentine.

Earthly Pulse is a series of short programs that showcases the environmental commitment of various renowned figures in their respective fields. Researchers, authors, and native voices are represented and enhanced poetically and visually. Each episode documents different locations where self-sustainability processes are underway, considering environmental priorities, principles of deep ecology, protection, regeneration, and the conscious use of natural resources. It also bears witness to life experiences that exemplify a harmony with natural laws, from which people draw material and spiritual nourishment. They cultivate a type of understanding that perceives the integrity of the human being in their interdependence with all life in nature.

It is an educational proposal: learning to live harmoniously and evolve in empathy with other beings on Earth.

// episode 01

Nature as a guide -

The Intrinsic Value of All Life (A narrative by Satish Kumar, adapted version) In this first episode, we document the work done in the native forest of Travesía, in the Traslasierra region of Córdoba province. Cintia Jancik, from Viva el Monte, tells us about the nourishing power of ancestral foods and how she lives a life immersed in the abundance that the native forest offers to those who care for, preserve, and regenerate the land. And Nicolás Fioretti, a beekeeper, speaks to us about the ecosystemic wisdom of bees, their relational intelligence, and their communal life, which seems superior to that of humans.

Of Universal Nature

A Paradoxical Journey to One's Own Being (A narrative by Jeff Foster, adapted version) Transforming ecological concerns into concrete and hopeful actions. In this episode, we talk with residents of Quebrada del Durazno, in the Villa de las Rosas region of Córdoba. We discuss "Community Organic Gardens" with Juan Ignacio Ventura, Pancho Castro, and Martín Ilg. We talk about "Native Fauna Recovery" with Balbino Grisanti. And about "Biodynamic Production" of products with Julien Baudet.

Natural Awakening

The Earth and the Universe receive and nourish all beings equally, without exclusion (Narrative of Hua Ching-Ni, adapted version). In this episode, we speak with Sacha Laniado about the preservation, productive and agroecological recovery of food and medicinal herbs in the Poca Volcano Reserve, on Cerro del Cóndor, Córdoba province. And with Salvia Gómez and Martín Ilg about artisanal production, natural building, and the care and preservation of the Nature Reserve in Los Molles, on the way to the tabaquillo forests of Cerro Champaquí.

Interconnectivity of Nature -

The Earth is a living system, Gaia, and we are also that life. (Narrative by James Lovelock, adapted version). In this episode, we talk with Pablo Friedlander about ecological restoration and ecosystem recovery in native forests. In particular, he spoke to us about the reforestation of the tabaquillo forests, essential for the natural formation of river sources on the peaks of Cerro Champaquí.

All Land is Sacred -

Renewing interest in the connections between beings on this Earth and beyond. Caring for this world is caring for our home (Narrative of the 14th Dalai Lama, adapted version). In this episode, we travel to the "El Mate" ranch in Delia María, Río Cuarto, Córdoba province, to interview Bruno Vasqueto and Federico Vasqueto. They are promoters of regenerative livestock farming and also carry out educational outreach to encourage and train producers to adopt regenerative livestock practices and the rotation of animals on rich soils where coexistence between species occurs naturally. We also had the opportunity to interview Sergio Toletti, an agronomist, agroecological producer, and university professor, who spoke to us about the importance of soil renewal and health as the primary action for transforming industrial livestock farming into regenerative livestock farming.

Natural Pulse -

Human life is not the only important thing in the cosmos (Narrative by Rupert Sheldrake, adapted version). In this episode, we document the excellent work carried out by the Amartya Civil Association at "Quinta Esencia," a sustainable school in Coronel Vidal, Mar Chiquita, Buenos Aires Province. We spoke with its founder, Christian Tiscornia, about practical sustainability and the various factors that make it possible, as well as the principles of bioregional and bioclimatic design. We talked with Analía Nadisa about the courses offered by Quinta Esencia to students, children, and teenagers, and about her total involvement with this "school of life." Eduardo Tiscornia spoke to us about biocorridors and the promotion of biodiversity for soil enrichment and the creation of an interconnected community that, like a neural network, nourishes and fosters mutual growth. Quinta Esencia directed us to the Sustainable School in Mar Chiquita, where we spoke with Chana Moina, a teacher of young children, a job she feels privileged to do. One of the school's students, Tomás Egozcue, also told us how they learn about sustainability and how to connect with nature throughout their learning process. He explained how they are aware of the school's natural construction and the diversity of plants and animals they protect. And regarding the importance of government collaboration in projects like these, we spoke with Walter Wischnivetzky from the municipality of Mar Chiquita.

In this final episode of Earthly Pulse, we especially thank Martín Kraft, from the Wichi Alliance, who provided us with images he recorded as a documentary anthropologist of the Wikina Wos people (People of the North Wind) in the Pilcomayo River region of Argentina, the natural border with Bolivia and Paraguay. The images, songs, and ceremonies of the Wikina Wos speak to us of the ancestral experience of a natural culture within the context of the destiny of the indigenous peoples of the Salta Chaco region.
